Oh relief washes over me. Today was the first day back at school for my 3 1/2 year old. This is his second year at preschool and the first year wasn't an easy transistion. It easily took my little boy a month to adjust to being left somewhere where he didn't know anybody. It was hard...not only on him. As a mom you just want to do anything you can to take the tears away even when you know its something good for them..and something they just have to do. Well since the new year began today, my little boy took it like a champ. No hard time today. He acted like he had no summer break and just picked up where he left off last year...what a relief. I know he's a really shy boy, but it really makes me so proud to see him go in adapt well.
So now that school is up and running a little more smoothly, I have to get focused. My son's preschool is a co-op so we are always trying to find ways to fundraise for our program. My brain is on fundraisers again. Last year we had a very successful guardianship fundraiser. We had a Personal Family Lawyer, Darlynn Morgan, who specializes in estate planning come in and talk to all of us parents about naming guardians for our little ones. We only had to pay $50 (completely payable to our school) and we left we legal documents naming our guardians. And better yet, she walked us through every step to make sure we understood what we were doing. This is such crucial information, but can be quite costly. So I'm so glad we did it as a fundraiser. My son's school made some much needed money (100% of the money donated) and we got some much needed information. Really...how much See's Candy can one mom take, right? I loved doing something different, something valuable, that we could take with us for longer than just the holidays...something that every parent needs, not just something we have to sell to our gracious relatives. I'm hoping to find something else as good this year.
